Impossible to Concentrate is a new body of text drawings produced in 2019. Comprising around 70 separate drawings of varied dimensions and in different acrylic colours and first shown at Etchells solo show at Ebensperger-Rhomberg in Berlin. Hung unevenly,  as single drawings and in unruly clusters, the works create an installation across two rooms of the gallery –

Etchells’ drawings for the series pitch diverse fragments of language in dialogue with each other. Creating a space in which banal single words, phrases, instructions, notes and appropriated texts sit next to vivid images summoned in language.
